Vertigo treatment please suggest.?

Almost a month back I had 2 attacks of vertigo from nowhere.The second one gave me double vision for about 3 minutes.After that I haven't had any attacks but I still feel imbalance & nauseated at times although I am able to cope.I saw the ENT doctor & he put me on medrol (steroids) for a week saying that it could be meiner's disease in the ear.(i had lost some low frequency 3 yrs back on the left ear).It helped while I was taking the steroids but towards the tapering end the imbalance resumed & still seems to be bothering me.The Doctor said if I had it he would give me more steroids.I dont want to take steroids due to it's side effects & lowering of immunity.Is there any other simple medications,home remedies etc that can help?
