What's really up with the confederates flags hanging all around some places in the south? Just curious?

i think for some people its tradition and they dont realize the hurt and meaning that is behind it. (i live in metro atl) and most of the people i encounter think thats just a southern thing to do and dont realize its hutful to some. but there are always the ones who do know and dont care. i try to give people the benefit of the doubt tho, as long as theyre respectful, i wouldnt consider it much.
